Project 365: Day 121

The challenge today was something that makes me sad, and really it is a bit of a depressing way to end a photo challenge.

There was a terrible accident on Highway 63 on Friday, with 7 people dying. There are so many thoughts and my heart breaks for the boy that survived while the rest of his family did not, and the man that survived where his wife and his unborn child did not. Words really do escape me and the community here is in mourning. I can't help but think about it as it reminds me too much of when my uncle died in a similar type accident last year and hits so close to the heart. I'm doing the same as I did then, just reading and reading about it, but I still don't want to believe it and that it really didn't happen.

Project 365: Day 120

The challenge today was circles. This was probably a particularly easy challenge for me, as circles are something that I'm quite attracted to, particularly in jewelry! Here is a part of my collection of circular pieces that I own, and range from a variety of materials.

Project 365: Day 119

The challenge of the day revolved around 1:00pm. As it was a Saturday, and I was expecting company, I was in the middle of baking a cake! This is the in progress cake that is cooling on the counter and the base consists of a brown sugar and chocolate marble batter.

Project 365: Day 118

Today's challenge was somewhere I went today. Being a workday, the obvious place is work! Complete with slightly orange walls, photo and desk setup. While this is my coat, this isn't my desk! I tend to spread out and take space at work when it's unused ;)

Project 365: Day 117

For today's challenge of black and white, I decided to look for some interesting patterns. When I hadn't found any today as I was in the office, all I had to do was look up! I work in an open concept office with exposed ceilings and it made a great contrasted black and white. Considering my challenge for next month's photos is to be in black and white. Thoughts?

Project 365: Day 116

Today's challenge was looking down and I was at the office the most today. Funny how my Clarks desert boots are making an appearance again so soon! Two things strike me when I took a photo liked this - 1) my left boot is lighter than my right boot and 2) there are always days when my feet feel huge and then some days they look tiny! I wear a size 5.5 to 6, so while they aren't tiny, they aren't big either!

Project 365: Day 115

Today's challenge is what I'm grateful for. Today is for the fact that I am reasonably healthy, mobile and active and that I should never take it for granted that I can do simple things like walk.

Project 365: Day 114

Today's challenge is vegetable, and this week I had bought baby tomatoes to snack on! Just love the pop of colour against my little blue rice bowl.

Project 365: Day 113

The challenge today was the last thing that I bought. These are my grey leather Clarks desert boots that I bought a few weeks ago. I have ben moving towards a more menswear style in the last few months and this is just a great addition for the in between weather and to match some of my black slim fit pants for the office. These have been great and super comfortable to boot!

Project 365: Day 112

The challenge for this day was bottle, and after some thinking I grabbed this lovely bottle out of the pantry. A Sigura Viudas that has been living there for some time, waiting for a special occasion! Loved the little metal detailing on this bottle that made it unique and stand out for us.

Project 365: Day 111

So I'm a bit late and also have not been able to keep up with the project, but wanted to finish the challenge and produce the photos to continue the year.

The challenge was something that I drew, and unfortunately I do not have my previous sketchbooks, or they are buried under any number of books. So the pen and another book came out. It has been a while, and reminded me that I need to just scribble more often!

Project 365: Day 110

Today's challenge was orange, and I did have the best of intentions to capture the bright orange walls that colour half of my office, but just never got to it today.

Today there was a lunch farewell for a friend and colleague of 4 years and some. When I stumbled upon this quote by Audrey Hepburn, I thought it was quite apt given the day and the circumstances. Whether she knows it or not, she captures this essence, and it does her well not only in her professional environment, but also in her personal life. I'm going to miss my friend, but for her great personality, she will be a superstar wherever she goes and will succeed in everything that she puts her mind to.

Project 365: Day 109

Today's challenge was hair. A typical day would be down straight like this with a little Morrocan Oil and a blowdryer to keep the frizz at bay. My hair is slightly wavy and super fine - while there is lots, I always seem to be losing hair and it's just not that thick overall. Makes it a challenge to style as it doesn't hold styles very well and is very flyaway. I am trying to do a bit more with my hair these days, and welcome any tips any readers may have!

Project 365: Day 108

Today's challenge was something you don't like. As soon as I walked out the door, I knew! This snow that fell last night, sparkling in the bright sun and blue sky! Granted, the snow did not last the day, but I'm just ready for it to be spring!

Project 365: Day 107

Today's challenge is flowers, and luckily the husband brought some home yesterday. It snowed a fair bit out there today, don't think there is much in the way of blooms or buds! Nice and cheery for these lovely flowers compared to the outside!

Project 365: Day 106

Today's challenge was sunset, and I think I made it even harder by staying in the downtown, which is in a valley! The colours weren't as vibrant as I was hoping, I guess I just missed the sweet spot of picture taking this evening. Though, as you can see by the ice still on Borealis Pond, it was a bit chill this evening and my hands were freezing by the time I was done!

Project 365: Day 105

The challenge was "how you feel today", which was a bit of a hard one to say the least. I guess the best way to describe my mood today is grey. It didn't help that it was cloudy and snowing today as well, sometimes it feels like the warm weather is so far away with the branches on the trees still so bare. Today's picture is the best representation I could come up with, a little dark, cloudy and uncertain.

Project 365: Day 104

Today's challenge was something I found, and what is more common that the average penny! They show up everywhere, on the streets, in your pockets and hiding in corners. There are so many around that most have no idea how many there might be. However, the Canadian government is going to phase these coppers out and stop making them in around 6 months from now.

Project 365: Day 103

So today's challenge was "stairs", and no matter how I tried, I thought of places that are dirty, muddy and generally uninspiring today. Must be the in between weather... winter is almost over, I swear!

So I thought about stairs and how they are generally quite equal in height (unless you think about the Great Wall) and came up with this. My personal circular staircase is made of my normal glossy reads during a year. Reader's Digest for the interesting content, Flare for the gawking content!

Project 365: Day 102

Today's challenge was where I ate breakfast. Well, when I'm running late, it's usually here, at the office! Featuring my big Starbucks mug, a banana and a sweet and salty granola bar.
