Dizzying Heights

Don't be afraid, the next few months will be a series of jumps. However, it will all work out in the end.

Interesting angle for the photography, I would probably be most worried about dropping my camera!

Photographing Food

Some beautiful pictures and thoughts about what goes behind taking photos of food. Sometimes it's not just about the food but where it comes from too!

Ice Matters - Polar Bears

I was blown away by this bleak, but stunning image in Svalbard. The use of a fisheye lens by Anna Henly gives it an even more stark representation of what is happening to the land of the polar bears. Here, one lone polar bear is the only one for miles.

On Walking

Maybe today I will take a walk, look down and find something beautiful.

Miniature Worlds, Catherine Nelson

Truly amazing, these are part of her "Future Memories" series, she puts together these worlds using hundreds of photographs. There are so many layers of depth in this composition, I couldn't imagine how it would look like in person. Simply wonderful.

Wishing for Fall

After being so cold and rainy yesterday, I'm just wishing for a fall day!

Leica X2 - Paul Smith Edition

I love this edition, the colours and the little doodle for the pop-up flash. Everything is thoughtfully and playfully executed on this classic Leica design. Now, if only the price tag was a little lower so I could afford something like this for my collection!

National Geographic Photo Contest 2012

I really enjoy browsing through the photo contest every year. There are some really talented photographers out there and this context really shows the breadth of skill that exists all over the world. Some of my favourites so far.

Red House on the Water

Love the old, slightly vintage/HDR feel of photos like these. Makes me want to go and seek them out and travel again. Our next trip will be to Hong Kong, so it's quite different from what I see in this picture!

Nikon Film

Eyeing a few second hand film cameras in the past few days, especially those that would be compatible with my current lenses... I'm wondering how it would feel to go back to film, I'm sure at the very least I will be more purposeful with my shooting as opposed to how I shoot right now. It might be a good experiment to get into!

Pink Fall

I'm curious where this tree comes from. It's such a ridiculous and bright shade of pink that I want to see it in person!

Fall is here, and soon to be gone. All to well known up here as the leaves are all starting to fall off the trees. Hoping the warmer weather lasts just a little bit longer!

Project 365: Day 271

Project 365: Day 271

I love this part of the year for the cooler weather and waking up around the time when the sun rises and greets me with these lovely colours.

A little behind on my posts because of my schedule and participating in the Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge. Catching up on posts for Project 365 today and tomorrow!

Old Film

I'm still toying around with the idea of buying a few film cameras to play around with. Oh the possibilities...

The Lomocraft Exhibition

This looks simply amazing. What an interesting way to present the history of lomography. I love how utterly detailed it is, I wonder how long it took to put this together? In either way, big kudos to the artist behind this!

Project 365: Day 267 - Fall is Here

Lone Fall Tree

Fall Reflection in the Snye

Fall Laneway

Busy Sunday! Started with a pancake breakfast, followed by walking to MacDonald Island for the trade show. There is no doubt now that Fall is upon us! Here you can see the yellow creeping right into the landscape, a bit change from what it was a few weeks ago in the snap that I took then! Hoping to go out again this week and next to finish capturing the full change to yellow.

New York State of Mind

Love the images that came from this shoot by Antia Pagant that takes some edgier fashion statements to the streets of New York City. Just beautiful and expressive.

Serious Camera Bags

As I said in the previous post, I use the Roma from ONA to convert any of my larger bags into a camera bag. However, sometimes I do wish for a bit more space, but the bag still needs to be work appropriate!

Here are a few from around the web that have caught my eye as well. I love the colours that they have come out with recently, who says a career girl only needs black, brown or grey! I do tend to gravitate towards messenger style bags, as I do like a little bit of a menswear feel to my wardrobe. However, these designers have many other styles that would be great as well!

Project 365: Day 243

Project 365: Day 243

Spent a little time playing with some edits. Still figuring out my way through Lightroom 3 and its workflow and functions, but I'm getting better, day by day!

Fun Camera Bags

I don't have a dedicated camera bag or box, just an insert (Roma by ONA) that I pair with a purse that I got in Italy for my everyday. Given that I only really carry the camera with a prime and hand strap attached, a polarizer and a shoulder strap on any given day, it works for now.

Sometimes I do wish for a fun alternative that can carry my other gear when I'm on the road, or just store it when I'm not using it. I'm drawn to those that are not your typical black canvas bag that screams "I have a camera in here!" to everyone around you.

I've ordered from Photojojo a handful of times and have enjoyed their collection of wares. I love their quirky stowaways and so far, everything has gotten to me exactly how I've ordered it. These two are new bags that are available from them that I found to be unbelievably cute and quirky. Maybe you'll enjoy them too!

Project 365: Day 242

Project 365: Day 242

Cat whiskers in detail. I do find these lying around the condo every so often, just not as much as she sheds though!

Thinking about a macro lens as I take pictures like these. Perhaps the 60mm or the 105mm? Decisions, decisions...
