Project 365: Day 289

Tea, chocolate and a harddrive. Not a super exciting evening, but busy as I run around doing some things. On a plane again in the morning and back in the evening. Going to be a long day!

I love this edition, the colours and the little doodle for the pop-up flash. Everything is thoughtfully and playfully executed on this classic Leica design. Now, if only the price tag was a little lower so I could afford something like this for my collection!

Project 365: Day 243

Spent a little time playing with some edits. Still figuring out my way through Lightroom 3 and its workflow and functions, but I'm getting better, day by day!

Project 365: Day 235

Listening to Holst's The Planets Suite tonight and having the visualizer playing on the monitor while I do some reading. I've always liked the iTunes visualizer the best since being a university student, and it was very appropriate that it was very cosmically shaped tonight, with the planets and the star trails dancing across the screen. Two more days until the weekend!

Project 365: Day 191

Monday was spent editing for hours on Lightroom 3. I had picked up the software on a great deal earlier this year, but had not really started to use it yet. So I took the opportunity of the trip and my friend's couple shoot to start using RAW and now I'm never looking back!

Still learning how to use the workflow, but for the most part, Lightroom 3 is pretty intuitive. For me it was quite different after using Photoshop for almost 10 years, but there are some great online tutorials out there. LR3 is a pretty powerful tool, and can handle most of the edits that you need on a day to day basics. For the real manipulation you still have to go into Photoshop, but LR3 saves a lot of time for standard edits.

"Ring" Alarm Clock

Now here's a neat concept with a simple design, an alarm clock that slips over your finger and vibrates to wake you up at your set time. The nice feature is that couples can discretely get up in the morning and not disturb the other with audio alarms, and would be great for those who are visually or hearing impaired as well!

Paper for the iPad, just another way to sort out thoughts and sketches in virtual books. I carry so many notebooks around with me in a day, I would get this app if I had an iPad!

Project 365: Day 90

Today was the inaugural TEDxFortMcMurray event and we got to hear from various people who shape many aspects about this community. It was inspirational and motivating to hear what all these people had to say and see the true potential of this community. Truly, this is a place of opportunity. A place where we can make our own luck and our own path in life. Our perspective here is what can really make a difference in how this community is now, and how it will be in the future.

Really, there were so many applications to life, whether at work or home. At first I was uplifted, then a little bit depressed as I made my way home, turning it around in my head as I applied the things I heard today to my own life. Honestly, I think I will be mulling it all over in the days to come...

Technical Difficulties

No photo yesterday and no posts this morning due to some internet issues. I could not get a steady connection yesterday if I had any at all, might need a call to the service provider. In the meantime enjoy the hanging panda and hopefully I will be up and running again tonight.

Kindle 3

My birthday gift from the dude this year, possibly the most dangerous thing to enter my little hands, as I can devour books like nobody's business!  I'm amazed at how easy it is to read, having gone through 2 books since getting it last week. Although I love the feel of a real book in my hands, this is something that has been adding to the experience of reading and I have been impressed so far. Of course, this will never be able to replace the books and magazines where I look for inspiring images, but this lets my imagination run free through the power of words.

Not so impressed by pricing for all books, but there are a lot of free books out there for me to read for the time being and sales on all the time.  Also I found out that later this year, they will be starting to do library book lending as well, partnering with Overdrive! Hopefully that will come to Canada soon, as my library here does lend out ebooks!
