Project 365: Day 31

It's interesting to note what I have on my walls when I was younger. A painting that I did in high school, a Dali print that was one of my favourites and kitten peeking over the "Beware of the Cats" sign. I suppose my tastes really haven't changed that much!

Art Space

If I had a dedicated art space to muck about in, this would probably be close to it! Not the tidiest, but lots of room to experiment and play!

Project 365: Day 30

Cleaning out my former bedroom in my parent's house today and found these little guys! These were for a model that I made for one of my urban design classes back in the day! Super tiny houses (about 1cm tall) that we had to cut out of balsa wood.

Project 365: Day 29

Mmm... starting off my trip with what else? Eating! First lunch out we went for Chinese food, northwestern style. This would be a chilli chicken pot, I think I see more chillies than anything here! Had hot pot tonight too with an old school friend =) I think most of my friendships really do revolve around food!

Shades of Outfit

Love this little white jacket and the dangling necklace, I may have to hunt through this week while in Ontario to pick up some new work essentials!

Project 365: Day 28

Started off the morning with a soy london fog in preparation for the flight today. Twinings Earl Grey Tea is one of my favourites and reminds me of my childhood in the UK, with lots of milk and sugar! While I definitely do not use so much sugar these days, it still brings me back to that kitchen with my mum and brother.

Rustic Organization

I love the antique feeling pieces on the table, and the organized clutter. It's a pretty fun use for old window shutters.

Project 365: Day 27

A busy day at the office as I am leaving for vacation tomorrow. Lunch today was out at one of the restaurants that I have not tried in town, Atmosfere. Enjoyed a smoked salmon appetizer with a soup for lunch. I don't have it often, but I love the saltiness of smoked salmon!

Photographers Posing With Their Iconic Images

I remember when I first saw this image on the cover of National Geographic and how hauntingly beautiful it was. I may even still have it at my parents place, even though its been more than a decade. Like many other photos, we are able to recall them, but we never know the photographer behind the camera that day or their names. This was definitely a great project to link those together and provide visual recognition for their work.

Dining Room Turned Library

I love this idea of turning an area that is not used as often into a great place to relax and read a book! Honestly, I just have a dining area as part of my kitchen, and can't really picture myself really needing or utilizing a formal dining room at all. This seems like a much better use of a place with lots of natural light! I could imagine an art and music studio with a library in this kind of a space.

Project 365: Day 25

Attracted by the play of colours between the bright green and the reds. Orchids have now been removed from this vase and I salvaged what was left for future decorations. A bit of a slow day, came home for lunch during training and this caught my eye.

Project 365: Day 24

Today's delicious lunch consisted of a smoked salmon and asparagus quiche and a lobster bisque from the Chef's Table by Mitchell's. My husband had a laugh - this was his first time seeing me take a picture of my food on the floor by the balcony door. Hey, it's where the light is!

Birdcages in the Sky

Interesting art installation in Sydney, Australia using birdcages to frame the sky of the alleyway. Kind of makes you think about that and life. The cages are always going to be out on display, but it is really up to us whether to stay in the confines of them or to set ourselves free. There is beauty either way, but it is still a choice to make.

Project 365: Day 23

You know I'm tired that day if I wear my glasses to work. These are my trusty Kenneth Cole Reaction glasses. In taking this photo, I have discovered that it is extremely difficult to take a picture without my glasses on! If look to the sides, you'll see it refracts and curves quite a bit, all due to my terrible vision of almost -800 in both eyes.

Vintage Photography

As I get more into photography, I would love to rummage through my dad's old stuff to see what kind of things that he still has in his collection. While he hasn't shot film in a while, I'm sure he's got quite a bit of stuff still! I think in the next few years I may venture back into film, and invest in a few good old pieces.

I took a few quick snaps from us setting up for touch football today. While it was quite cold out (-13, windchill around -20), it was still a lot of fun out in the snow!

An interesting gift for a guitarist. Perhaps not to use, as it is a copper piece, but to keep in their pocket to remind themselves of why they love the craft.

Project 365: Day 21

My husband knew I wasn't feeling all too bright today, so when he went out for groceries, brought back this with him as well. It's a few days to Chinese New Year, so the colours reflect that, feeling much cheerier in this cold and cloudy day. Add a chai latte, a way to this girl's heart =)

Navy Stripes and Yellow

Simple and cute with a pop of colour. I'm in need of navy or dark grey pants, along with some other things to fill out my wardrobe. Can't wait to go shopping in Toronto next week!

Project 365: Day 20

Trying to integrate yoga as a part of my weekly routine (this is actually a pilates mat, but I find it great to use as it offers more padding and is more challenging for my stability). I'm pretty stiff in some places, as I found out the other day just how much I need to work on my flexibility again!

Project 365: Day 19

Received this via interoffice the other day at work, as I completed my Leadership Certificate with SAIT last year, but was out of town for the ceremonies. It's funny they sent me the graduation cap as well, feels like I'm in high school again.

Fluttering Birds Tattoo

Flap and fly. Still thinking about bird tattoos, still thinking about if I want to do one. Colour still undecided, but I was thinking white ink, just something more hidden and personal to me.

Carve a section of a room, be it a kitchen or living room, to make your own little office space. I think I may have to try that with my own place, as I tend to do a lot of my work at the kitchen table. Wonderful way to stay organized too!

Project 365: Day 18

Finally got a haircut, my first one since September and before the wedding! My hair was quite damaged at the ends and I had accumulated quite a lot of split ends. My hair feels much healthier now, and I bought a small bottle of Moroccan Oil as I have heard good things and want to see if it will keep my hair in good shape in this dry winter.

Table Islands

I love the idea of a moveable island, particularly a table with a lot of space to work on. Does double duty as it is particularly ideal for someone like me, who is reasonably small and would love a lower workspace that I can bake and make breads on. A table to beat up and love. Loving the details in this kitchen as well, with the floor tiles and the giant lamp fixture overhead.

Project 365: Day 17

Another frigid day, showing up at -45 degrees celsius with the windchill today with a high of -28. Since ice fog was mentioned on the radio this morning, I thought this would be a good opportunity to snap an example of it  (I did this indoors though, because I think my balcony door is frozen shut). This happens when it is really cold out and the ice particles just hang suspended in the air. Visibility is quite poor and only improves as the sun comes out later in the day.

I loved her in Firefly. Such beautiful and playful elegance that she pulled off, and she's so versatile in roles as well. Whenever I see her, her style always captures me and holds me for a while.

Project 365: Day 16

It was freezing today, apparently it was about -42 degrees celsius with the windchill this morning. Crazy! I had to even take out my snow pants to make sure I stayed warm on the walk to work. This is part of the upper half of the wrap-up, two coats, a scarf, hat and hood. If you look closely, there are drops of water on my hair that was the frozen condensation from my breath that melted when I came inside. May not be fashionable, but sure is functional!

A quiet Sunday, just perfect when the weather is in the minus 30s! Started off with a stabilizing breakfast of steel cut oats and then got a lot of things done around the house.

Playing With Time

I love the idea of playing with the pieces of a watch to reinterpret and resdesign time. This one and others by Closet Gothic really caught my eye, I love the jewels and the bare nature of all the internal pieces come to the surface!
